Orthokeratology

Imagine correcting your vision problems while you sleep. This is actually possible, thanks to an innovative treatment option called orthokeratology – or Ortho-K for short. Ortho-K can be used to address moderate cases of myopia (nearsightedness) or farsightedness, as well as presbyopia and minor astigmatisms. Hartland Eye Care is pleased to offer this advanced eye care service to help our clients enjoy optimal vision.

What is Ortho-K?

Orthokeratology is a state-of-the-art treatment process that involves the use of specially designed contact lenses. These lenses are worn overnight and, over time, gradually reshape the curvature of the cornea. Patients wearing Ortho-K lenses simply remove them in the morning and go about their day.

Is Ortho-K Right for You?

While orthokeratology is a safe and effective treatment option for patients of all ages, it is particularly beneficial for younger patients who have been diagnosed with myopia. Used properly, Ortho-K lenses can slow the progression of nearsightedness and also reduce the risk of developing other conditions often associated with myopia, such as glaucoma and retinal detachment.

Adult patients can use Ortho-K to eliminate the need to wear glasses or contact lenses during the day, while they are awake and active.

The team at Hartland Eye Care is skilled and experienced in orthokeratology. If you’d like to learn more about this cutting-edge treatment method or to find out if you’d be a good candidate, schedule a professional consultation with our experts today!
